Makeup For Incandescent Lighting

Makeup For Incandescent Lighting

Soft and inviting, romantic and warm, the glow of incandescent lighting is found everywhere! Incandescent light is typically emitted from your classic light bulb. Fire emits incandescent light, too. Candles, fireplaces, and incandescent light bulbs emit a yellow, orange, or reddish warm light. Incandescent lighting is found in homes, restaurants, professional settings, and night clubs. Usually incandescent light bulbs have a color temperature of 3200 degrees Kelvin. Remember, the lower the color temperature, the warmer the light.

The blue end of the incandescent spectrum is week. Therefore, when blue based colors are used under this light, the color softens and is extremely flattering on the skin. Think blue based makeup colors like blues, greens, purples, and blue based reds. Aqua, sky, sea foam, magenta, grape, and pink all look fabulous under incandescent lighting!

Light reflective products also look best under warm light. There are seven light reflective categories of products:

1. Shimmer

2. Sheer

3. Glitter

4. Gloss

5. Metallics

6. Frosted

7. Pearlized

These formulations pop under incandescent lighting and add a little attention under dim lighting.

Try experimenting with colors and lighting this week. Let me know what you think!
